On a morning filled with inspiration and national pride, Chayil Information Technology Director, Mr. Shane Chinau, achieved a once-in-a-lifetime milestone when he met Prime Minister Hon. James Marape at the Prime Minister’s SME Breakfast — an annual event that celebrates outstanding Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) from across Papua New Guinea and around the world.For Shane, this was not just another business event. It was the fulfilment of a personal dream he made in 2014 — that one day, through dedication and perseverance, he would stand face to face with the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea to represent a nationally recognized SME.
🌱 A Dream Born in 2014
In 2014, Shane Chinau started Chayil Information Technology with nothing more than K300, a broken laptop, and a borrowed container as his office in Lae. At the time, meeting the Prime Minister felt like a distant dream — something only large companies and powerful individuals experienced. But Shane held onto that vision, telling himself that “One day, Chayil IT will make a national impact, and I will meet the PM.”Through years of hard work, walking from school to school, presenting e-library solutions, and overcoming challenges, that dream slowly became a reality.
🏆 From Container to National Stage
Ten years later, in 2024, Shane stood proudly among the Top 20 SMEs of Papua New Guinea — representing a company that has transformed from a one-man operation to a national education technology leader. Chayil IT’s achievements in offline e-libraries, its K7 million Morobe Provincial E-Library Project, and its impact on over 60,000 students made it one of the standout SMEs of the year. This earned Shane an invitation to the Prime Minister’s SME Breakfast, an annual high-level gathering of PNG’s most promising entrepreneurs, government leaders, and global SME champions.

During the breakfast event, Prime Minister Hon. James Marape personally met and congratulated Shane Chinau for Chayil IT’s outstanding contribution to education and SME development in PNG.For Shane, it was a deeply emotional and historic moment — the realization of a decade-long dream.
